Toronto, Ontario, August 15, 2011 – ENBALA Power Networks, a Toronto-based company that pays large electricity users to connect to the Smart Grid, was awarded the Green Focus on Innovation and Technology (GreenFIT) endorsement from the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation. The endorsement was in recognition of ENBALA’s Smart Grid technology and its value.

“Our expert reviewers were impressed by several components of your technology and service, which appears to be both unique and innovative,” the endorsement letter from the Ministry of Research and Innovation stated. “The potential market opportunity for this technology is significant.”

GreenFIT recognizes emerging and innovative green technologies. A panel of experts studies technologies and assesses their application and their effect on the environment while they are in use by the government. This recognition is meant to encourage the adoption of successful technologies by government.

“Our Smart Grid solution is unique and innovative and we’re honoured to be recognized by the Government of Ontario for it,” said Ron Dizy, President and CEO of ENBALA Power Networks. “We’re leading a new era in how the electric power system is managed, and in how loads can participate in and get paid for enhancing the reliability of the grid. ENBALA is proud to be on the cutting edge of this movement.”

The GreenFIT program finds innovative green technologies that the Province can pilot in a government setting and showcase to industries, thereby embracing green initiatives and supporting innovative business ventures in Ontario.
