Business Development Manager, Montreal
Scope of Position
This Business Development Manager will realize an incredibly timely opportunity to contribute to the rapid growth of Sempa Power Systems, and will directly benefit from the fulfillment and rewards associated with such an endeavor. Responsibilities
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for the following:
- Handle the full compliment of sales, business development, and account management activities required to promote and sell Sempa Power Systems’ products, solutions and services in the Quebec market.
- Develop sales plans and strategies for winning/securing new accounts in the specific markets targeted
- Generate and qualify sales leads for new, repeat and referral opportunities
- Call on and build relationships with building owners and property managers in Sempa’s target markets … presenting Sempa Power Systems’ solutions and value-proposition to them, and to the appropriate people of influence (consultants, integrators, etc.)
- When appropriate, to introduce Sempa Power Systems’ technical staff for the purpose of conducting technical meetings with facilities managers, site walk-throughs for providing costing and preparation of detailed Project Summaries and Letters of Engagement
- Continually research the market, identifying opportunities to present or to respond to for RFPs/RFQs
- Monitor and measure the activities of other companies playing in this space … and seek to identify opportunities for competition or partnerships
- Close sales and negotiate contractual agreements with customers
- Develop a personal profile as a subject matter expert on Energy Savings and Reducing Green House Gas Emissions; this to be accomplished through participation with Professional Associations and through industry events such as conferences, trade shows, etc.
- Report sales activities, sales forecasts and performance criteria to Sempa Power Systems’ executive team (Sempa currently uses SalesForce.com)
- Work with the company’s marketing resources to generate marketing collateral materials and other sales/marketing resources
Key Performance Deliverables
Within the first 12 months, it is expected that the Account Manager will:
- Achieve and/or exceed sales/revenue targets and objectives (targets TBD)
- Establish an attractive presence and profile for Sempa Power Systems in the market
- Build and fill a funnel of sales opportunities
- Implement a set of efficient sales processes which allow for measurement and predictability of results
Requisite Experience and Education
- Ideally a Bachelor degree with a preference for Engineering or IT, but not essential
- 5 to 10 years experience selling technology-based solutions, products or services to the commercial buildings and/or residential multiple dwelling unit markets -- demonstrating an understanding of building systems and infrastructure.
- Must be fluently bilingual (English & French)
- Track record for success in selling and reputation for building strong ongoing relationships with customers
- An ability to intelligently discuss technical solutions and establish credibility with technical buyers
- Understanding of and comfort with long sales cycles (capex cycles)
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills, able to deal effectively with all levels from blue-collar employees to CEOs
- High energy level and entrepreneurial spirit
